EVENING OF LOCAL FARMING NOSTALGIA

March 18 2012

Bishopstone Parish Hall presents an evening of local farming nostalgia at the hall on Saturday 14th Apil at 7.00 for 7.30pm.
The evening begins with an illustrated talk by Ian Everest called "From the Sussex Ox to the Fordson Major" - the fascinating story of the use of oxen, horses and steam power on Sussex farms; their impact on the countryside and the modernising of agriculture with the arrival of the first tractors.
After a cheese and wine break the second half will see a showing of a 1950's cine film - "A year in the life of Manor Farm, Bishopstone" This much acclaimed film, made by farmer John Willett, shows a time when twenty men worked on the farm all the year round - and forty at harvestime.
Tickets at £7.00, which includes refreshments, are available from Linda's Stores at Bishopstone Railway Station and money raised will go towards the upkeep of the Parish Hall.
