As I said some weeks ago now, why cant we have both developments. Lets give Newhaven and the surrounding area the economic boost it so badly needs. Lets create real long term prosperity and Job opportunities.

As well as past 'hastily considered' planning decisions there has also been too much focus on short term job opportunities. The next such short term employment opportunity might well be the 'Rampion Windfarm'. Sadly, if and when this does goes ahead, by the very nature of the technology, most of the job opportunities will be very highly specialised and very highly skilled and the expertise will be 'bought in' to fulfil the very specific tasks. Any hope of long term sustainable jobs is a very real 'red herring'.

So lets have some local development that is long term and sustainable. Local people will always need supermarkets and there will always be a need for people to work in them.

So, rather than favouring one planned development over the other one, LETS HAVE BOTH.

I do not know where Steve lives but if it is in Newhaven he will know that 'any' change is going to be an improvement and that is why there is such a feeling of opinion that this application should go ahead.
