TWO CALLOUTS FOR NEWHAVEN LIFEBOAT

February 1 2012

Volunteers from Newhaven's RNLI lifeboat station have been called out to two incidents involving vessels suffering from engine problems in the last three days

The first occurred on Sunday 29th January, when the crew were tasked at 12:45 to an 18ft RIB (rigid inflatable boat) with two persons on board, which had suffered mechanical failure two miles south west of Newhaven.

The crew were called out for a second time yesterday, Tuesday 31st January, at 13:55 to aid a 25ft Arvor pleasure craft which had broken down two miles south of Seaford Head with three persons on board.

In both cases Newhaven's Severn class Lifeboat David and Elizabeth Acland established a tow and the casualty vessels were safely bought into Newhaven harbour and berthed in the marina.
