The weekend has rolled round once again, bringing with it another brilliant line-up of events showcasing some of Newhaven and Seaford's finest local talent. So don't just sit there reading this - Get out and support your local events!

First things first, if you hurry you've still got time to get down to the Newhaven Lifeboat Fundraising Day - Slurp Our Soup. It's on at the Boathouse on West Quay now, until 1.30pm.

Moving on - Calling all quiz fans! Two chances for you to put your general knowledge to the test tonight; there's the Winner Takes All Quiz Night at The Royal British Legion in Seaford, or get yourself over to Clinton Halls in Seaford for the Christian Aid Quiz from 7pm.

On the live entertainment front, Seaford Folk Club is back in full swing with the So Last Century String Band, bringing old-time music from the 1920s and 30s to the Royal British Legion from 8pm. Sticking with Seaford, brilliant Folk/Rock band Bucklers Reel play live at The Cinque Ports from 8.30pm, whilst up in South Heighton, The Hampden Arms is running a Jam Night from 8.30pm. Lots of local musicians participating so it's all set to be a good one! Get up there and join in.

Tonight is also your second-to-last chance to catch Meeching Amateur Dramatics' latest production, "Are You Being Served?". Performances start at 7.45pm at Meeching Hall in Newhaven, with the cast taking to the stage for the final time on Saturday evening.

This Saturday afternoon you can see Seaford Town FC playing on home turf at The Crouch in Seaford. This week they kick off at 3pm against East Preston.

Taking you into Saturday evening, Juke Box Junkies are back by popular demand at Seaford Royal British Legion, whilst local lads James Das And Chaz Roe take their original style and mix of music back for a popular return gig at The Bay Tree Inn in Seaford from 8.30pm. Two talented lads who deserve your support. Finish off your evening with another of our favourite local bands, Welcome To Nutsville, as they play at The Ark in Newhaven from 9pm.
