SPATE OF BURGLARIES IN PEACEHAVEN

January 12 2012

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following a spate of burglaries in Peacehaven, which are believed to be linked.

Two of the offences happened on January 5th in Friars Avenue and Chatsworth Avenue, with the third taking place between January 4th and 6th in Firle Road. In all three cases, entry was forced through a window at the back of the houses. Once inside, jewellery was stolen, including watches, brooches and earrings.

Detective Constable Dave Styles, from the Priority Crime Team, said: "We believe these offences are all linked. In each crime, the offender has used the same way to gain access to the houses and has only stolen jewellery

"Although the exact times of the burglaries are unknown, they most likely occurred during the late afternoon or early evening. We would like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in any of these areas, no matter how small or insignificant the information may seem.

"This is also a timely reminder to home owners to always ensure that every door and window is securely locked and that properties are not left in darkness, indicating that they are empty."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sussex Police on 101, or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
