HAVEN NEWS WEEKEND PREVIEW

December 30 2011

Christmas may be over but the festivities show no sign of stopping as Newhaven and Seaford get set to welcome in the New Year. So why not stick around and see in 2012 at one of your local events.

Looks like everyone is saving themselves for Saturday night - probably a wise decision as Newhaven alone has so many New Years Eve parties and events, you'll be spoilt for choice. Tucked away at the end of Fort Road, don't forget about The Harbourside - they'll be bringing in the New Year with a party and DJ playing anything from the 80s up to current tunes. As far as the High Street is concerned, there's a party at The White Hart and we've heard there may be a band on in The Bridge... no harm in checking it out as if you're out of luck, there'll be lots going on in the area anyway!

Down on the Quay, following on from a great Christmas eve party, The Ark will be getting the celebrations started with DJ Sam Jones on the decks. Over the water at Newhaven Railway Club, local pop and rock covers band RaNdOm will be joining Newhaven's Disco Knights for an evening of fun and great music for all your friends and family. You can also head over to The Drove to join the party and catch local band The Riffz playing their usual mix of brilliant covers.

And proving that South Heighton really is the place to be, the Hampden Arms has already sold out of tickets to its 70s themed NYE party, so those of you heading up there, have fun, and better luck next year the rest!

Over in Seaford there's yet more ways to celebrate the coming of 2012. Get your dancing shoes on at The Royal British Legion from 8.45pm for their Disco Night, or over at the Con Club, Kevin Swoish takes to the stage from 8pm.

Of course Seaford's full of great pubs, so you're bound to have a good one wherever you go. The Shore usually has a good band or DJ on, as does The Cinque Ports if you're looking for somewhere a little cosier. Get those essential shots in at V bar, and if you're feeling really brave, there's always the Trek...

New year, new start, so why not get rid of last night's excesses by heading down to Seaford Beach for the Seaford Lifeguards New Years Day Dip. This 40 year old event is open to non members who can either raise funds for Seaford Lifeguards or a charity of their choice. There is a registration fee of £10.00 payable on the day, with the brave dippers entering the sea at midday. Probably advisable to keep this as a spectator sport if you really did end up in the Trek last night!

Have a good one!
