HAVEN NEWS CHRISTMAS WEEKEND PREVIEW

December 23 2011

IT'S CHRIIIIIISTMAAAAAAAAAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whether you love or loath all the build up, you can't fight the fact that the big day is finally upon us. Yet again, Newhaven and Seaford are pulling out all the stops to make this weekend a great one, so Grinches unite with your festive friends and get out there to support your local events!

Father Christmas has been making his way round Seaford for the last few nights as part of the Sleigh Routes 2011. Tonight he'll be visiting Walmer Road, Chyngton Avenue, Saltwood Road, Hythe Crescent and Hastings Avenue in Seaford from 6pm, so don't forget to give the big man a wave and get in those last minute gift requests!

From 8pm it's all about a festive sing-song at the Seaford Folk Club Singers and Musicians Night. Up at the Hampden Arms in South Heighton, Fat Belly Jones play live from 8.30pm, and back in Seaford, local lads Chaz and Das take to the stage at The Cinque Ports, also from 8.30pm.

For a traditional start to your Christmas Eve, head over to St Leonard's Church in Denton or St Michael's Church in Newhaven for their Crib Services at 3.30pm, repeated in Denton at 6pm.

From then on, things get turned up a notch. Encore play at Seaford Con Club, and The Rahmanis get the party started at The Harbourside in Newhaven, both from 8pm. There's an Xmas Eve Disco at the Hampden Arms from 8.30pm, whilst local band The Riffs taking on The Ark in Newhaven, also from 8.30pm. Then it's over to Seaford for Coldheat at The Royal British Legion from 8.45pm, followed by Trip Wire at The Shore Bar from 9pm.

Sunday is Christmas Day apparently. Eat some turkey, open some presents, fall asleep, eat some more turkey.

Merry Christmas!
