Free town centre parking

Lewes District Council awarded the town of Newhaven a trading Christmas present earlier this month with a much-needed parking incentive boost for the town centre.

Until 5th January 2012, anyone using the Newhaven town centre multi-storey car park can claim the first two hours of parking free, with only the third and additional hours becoming chargeable.

This is an unconditional offer and will be welcomed by Newhaven's struggling town centre traders and service providers.

Should the Council adopt this as a year-round policy to help save the town centre?
