December 16 2011.
The weekend entertainment starts at the Hampden Arms in South Heighton tonight, with the Brass Monkeys making a popular return.
The weekend's finally here, and although it's the last one before Christmas, don't panic - Newhaven and Seaford's finest establishments have got loads of entertainment planned to help you recover from that last dash around the shops. So go on, get out there and support your local events!
Yet again Friday brings with it some great live music, kicking off with the
Brass Monkeys playing a mix of Rhythm and Blues, Dr Feelgood, ZZ Top, Tom Petty, Steve Earle, Black Crowes, Led Zep and more at the
Hampden Arms from 8.30pm . Over in Seaford, great local band
Welcome To Nutsville play at
V Bar, whilst the
Folk Club at the British Legion Club has a double bill of two local duos in store as
Jo & Graham and
Chris & Gill take to the stage.
If you are either a late night reveller or an early morning worker then you might want to avoid the
Newhaven bridge at around 3.10am Saturday morning, as it is due to open around then.
If you live in Seaford, why not head over to
Seaford Council Chambers and take the opportunity to meet and discuss any local issues with your
Conservative councillor on Saturday morning?
Saturday evening sees the long awaited
Seaford Museum & Heritage Society "Christmas Choral Event" at
St Peter's Church in Seaford from 7pm, offering a programme of carols by the
"Naked Voices", while at the recently re-launched
Ark in Newhaven, "Dr Scardo" are playing it loud and fast.
Sunday looks set to really get you into the Christmas spirit, starting with
Carols by Candlelight at St Mary's in Tarring Neville at 3pm, or
St Michael's Church in Newhaven from 6.30pm.
Then it's all back up to the
Hampden Arms for a fun-packed afternoon from 3pm, including a
Sunarise Song Recording with local musician Danny McEvoy, Christmas Prize Draw and... a meat raffle, just in case you weren't already convinced. Then head down to
South Heighton for
Father Christmas on the Village Green from 6pm, followed by
Carols on the Green with mince pies and mulled wine.
What could be better!
