FERRY REDIRECTED TO PORTSMOUTH

December 14 2011

A Newhaven bound ferry was forced to redirect to Portsmouth on Monday evening after adverse weather conditions made it impossible to enter Newhaven Harbour.

After waiting outside the harbour, it was decided that the Transmanche ferry would not be able to return to Newhaven as planned, and would instead have to make its way to the larger harbour at Portsmouth, where passengers and freight could safely disembark.

The vessel was able to return to Newhaven on Tuesday morning.
