FIRE CREWS SECURE NEWHAVEN BUILDING FOLLOWING CRASH

December 12 2011

Fire crews assisted with stabilising a building after a car crashed into the front of a shop in Newhaven over the weekend.

Two fire engines from Newhaven attended, along with the Technical Rescue Units from both Battle and Lewes, after being called to South Way in the early hours of Saturday morning, 10th December.

Firefighters used steel props to support the structure of the building and to ensure that it posed no danger to the public. The road had to be closed off to traffic for around an hour while crews made the area safe.

Crews left the scene at 5.12am and handed the incident over to Sussex Police.
