HAVEN NEWS WEEKEND PREVIEW

October 14 2011.

Friends of Tidemills need your help to clean up our beautiful beach on Sunday

Another working week is done and dusted, so sit back, relax, and get a load of what Newhaven and Seaford have on the cards to get you out and about this weekend.

Once again, Friday night's not short of a musical treat or two, with Titus covering the likes of Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen at Seaford Folk club from 8pm, and The Elevators make their highly anticipated return to the Hampden Arms from 8.30pm over in South Heighton.

Finally for Friday, you know how we at Haven News just love our Bridge alerts, so if you are aiming to cross the Newhaven Swing Bridge at around the 1.20am mark tomorrow morning, then you will find it open. Or is it the road that is closed? Either way, you will have to wait, or take another route. Or now you know, you can fit your busy early morning schedule around it.

If you reckon there's nothing better than a good old bargain hunt of a Saturday morning, you're in luck! NP&S Lions Club is hosting a Charity Car Boot Sale at Paradise Park in Newhaven from 9am, (or 8.15 if you fancy selling), in aid of The Rock Solid Youth Club. Other early morning treats this Saturday include the weekly Surgery with Norman Baker over at Seaford Tourist Information Centre from 9.15am, or the Seaford Bowling Club Bazaar from 10am.

Saturday evening sees Munich brought to...South Heighton, as the Hampden Arms gives us its take on Oktoberfest. Expect authentic German decorations and bar snacks alongside folk tunes from Bushy Wiskars. Great local band Welcome to Nutsville will also be playing over in Seaford at the Bay Tree Inn from 8.30pm.

Sunday morning's set to be a sunny one, so why not get out for some fresh air and lend a hand to the Friends of Tidemills Monthly Beach Clean-Up. The group meets once a month to clean up our beautiful coastline free of charge and welcome you for any amount of time you can spare, from 10am.

So with music-listening, car-booting, beach-cleaning and of course, swingebridge-watching to be done this weekend, don't stay in, get out there and support your local events!
