COMMUNITY GARDEN OPEN DAY SHINES ON

October 1 2011.

The NCDA Open Spaces project is basking in the glorious first day of October with an open day at its Community Garden which is located just behind the Tideway School off Pevensey Road in Newhaven.

Open until 3.00pm today, the garden has already attracted a good turn out of local people of all ages, all interested in finding out more about the work of the project, as well as just chilling out and enjoying a cool drink in the tranquillity of the reclaimed land that overlooks, what is today, a beautiful glistening sea view.

Mayor of Newhaven Steve Saunders welcomed visitors and promised his support for the project. Whilst visiting the site, Haven News met local resident Joan Rhodes who has lived in the area since 1964 and who kindly allowed her land to be used for this community project.

The garden is open to the public year round but, if you have five or ten minutes to spare today, it's well worth a visit.

Haven News will be reporting on the works of the NCDA, Hillcrest Centre and other community projects over the coming months. Bookmark us now!
