SEAFORD COUNCILLOR’S MARATHON SUCCESS
September 29 2011
Seaford Town Councillor Adrian Campbell has completed the 38th Berlin Marathon in a new personal best time, raising hundreds of pounds for the Mayor of Seaford's charity, WAVES Family Support Service.
The Councillor, who took to the flat German course last Sunday, 25th September, smashed his previous personal best time, finishing in a fantastic 3 hours 20 minutes, (and 11 seconds).
Councillor Campbell, a keen runner who competes throughout the year in various races and marathons, put his speedy time down to race conditions on the day. "The weather was fine, it was a nice sunny day, but not overly warm and the course was very flat, all of which contributed to my time."
In recent months, Adrian has been seeking sponsorship for the event, which he ran in aid of WAVES, a local Seaford charity helping families who are vulnerable and isolated from the community, trying to relieve pressure, strengthen the family unit and try to prevent possible breakdowns.
Thanks to donations from the local community, the councillor's marathon effort has helped to raise an impressive amount. "I am on course to raise £400 for the mayor's charity Waves." He confirmed.
