SEAFORD BONFIRE REIGNITES

26 September 2011

Seaford Bonfire Society is preparing to relight its fire after being left to smoulder for more than thirty years.

Since reforming earlier on this year, the society has gone to great lengths to re-establish itself, gaining a committee, headquarters at The White Lion pub in Seaford and partaking in fund-raising events in preparation for the upcoming bonfire season.

All of their hard work will be showcased on Saturday 22 October at the Martello Fields in Seaford, when the society hosts its first procession and fireworks display since the reform.

With claims of bonfire celebrations dating back to 1615, Seaford and its newly formed society has a long-establised bonfire tradition, as well as links to the Gunpowder Plot of 1605.
