SEAFORD POLICE ISSUE SCHOOL PARKING WARNING

September 20 2011.

Seaford police are urging parents to be more responsible when dropping off or picking up their children from school.  This comes as a result of numerous complaints about parents illegally parking in order to drop off or pick up their children.

PS Veale said, "Whilst I appreciate the need for parents to collect or drop off their children, it causes a great deal of problems, not only due to congestion, but more importantly a safety issue where children cannot be seen by approaching motorists due to vehicles parked in an obstructive manner on junction corners, as well as on yellow zigzags or double yellow lines.  We have now begun an active campaign around schools to stop dangerous parking.

"Officers have again begun issuing, and will continue to issue, Fixed Penalty Notices and formal letters of advice to those parked in a dangerous or obstructive manner.

"Everyone understands how hard it can be in the morning rush, but also remember  that no amount of saved time can bring a child's life back."
