CRUISER STUCK AT DENTON ISLAND

September 20 2011.

Newhaven lifeboat was called out last night to try and free a cruiser which had become stuck on the river bed at Denton Island after running out of fuel. It remained stuck overnight and the lifeboat returned this morning to take the boat's owner off.

The lifeboat, or the port pilot boat, will return closer to high tide, which is at 15.12hrs, to attempt to remove the cruiser, as it is blocking access for a larger vessel due in on the tide.

A bridge opening is still scheduled for 15.10hrs.
