Don't sit at home this weekend. There is plenty happening out and about the Newhaven and Seaford area, so why not get out and support your local events...

The weekend kicks off tonight with The Fog, a great local covers band, playing at the Hampden Arms in South Heighton. Always a great atmosphere at this revived pub. A good pint of Harveys as well!

Saturday is Open Day at Newhaven Fire Station in Fort Road, Newhaven; well worth a look for the whole family. It is also the Seaford Dog Rescue Family Fun Day and Dog Show at the Martello Fields, Seaford. It is free to get in and families and well behaved dogs are welcome from 10am through to 4pm. There is a dog show, demonstrations and plenty of family fun.

Saturday evening sees top local band Welcome To Nutsville playing at The Old Boot Inn in Seaford, while The Moriarty play at The Harbourside in Newhaven. Catch them while you can - their last ever gig is at the Ark next weekend. If you are ready to rock then Bon Jovi tribute band, Bad Medicine, are playing at the Ark, and, if you are ready to sing, it is Karaoke Night at The Cinque Ports in Seaford.

On Sunday it is your chance to perform at the Open Mic Night at The Bay Tree in Seaford.

With the dogs cleared away from Saturday, Martello Fields welcomes more four legged friends to the annual Seaford Donkey Derby on Bank Holiday Monday. There is a funfair, stalls and a childrens fancy dress parade.

Monday evening sees a Curry & Quiz Night at The Ship in Newhaven. Teams of four and prizes galore!

There is also lots happening on the arts front thoughout the weekend and beyond, with exhibtions and open days.
