LARK IN THE PARK 2011

August 15 2011

The annual 'Lark in the Park' music festival has been hailed a great success as it returned to South Heighton last Saturday, 13th August, offering more entertainment than ever before.

With a line-up including Jagged Dogz, Steve Lockwood, Lawsuit Lizzy and Loose Moose, those in attendance were treated to a great variety of live music. Other highlights included the delicious hog roast, new to the festival this year, and of course the traditional beer tent.

The event was attended by people of all ages, with families enjoying chilled out picnics being just as common a sight as young groups of friends.

Although this year's festival saw a modest increase in entry fee, it didn't appear to have deterred many visitors, the park being full to the brim.

Commenting on the price, one attendee said, "The entrance fee was six pounds, so one pound up from last year, but it was worth it as it was a good laugh and still pretty busy.

"The music was good and there was a high energy atmosphere with people dancing all over the place. The weather definitely didn't dampen anyone's spirits," he continued.

Despite the recent riots still being fresh in everyone's minds, the event went ahead without any trouble or significant incidents being reported.

In fact, the overall friendly, community spirited atmosphere of the event has been particularly praised; at one point the crowd was asked to keep a look out for a missing Blackberry, resulting in the phone being returned to its owner. Now you wouldn't get that at Glastonbury!
