SEAHAVEN BRANCH, THE ROYAL SOCIETY OF ST GEORGE

May 1st, 2019.

Bob Peedle reports:

The branch celebration of St George's Day, the 23rd of April, was once again a resounding success. We started at 6.00pm with a service in St Andrew's Church, (The Cathedral of the South Downs) led by Revd Colin Prichard. Sadly we could not have the bells rung at 6.00pm for St George, because building work was going on in the spire above the bells.

We then walked across the Tye to Deans Place Hotel for our formal dinner. This turned out to be another superb part of the event. Great food and super service by the staff. An auction and raffle raised funds for the branch and these will be used to buy useful gifts for local worthwhile charities or projects, one of which is the forthcoming Veterans and Armed Forces Day on Saturday the 29th of June.

Chairman Bob Peedle welcomed the guests and the response was given by the Lord Lieutenant, Peter Field. Also present was the new High Sheriff for East Sussex, Violet Hancock.

A lovely evening all round enjoyed by all.
