SEAFORD CAR BREAK-INS PROMPT POLICE WARNING

August 29 2014.

Car owners in Seaford are being advised to take extra care over security following a spate of vehicle crime during the early hours of yesterday - Thursday the 28th - when several vehicles were broken into between 4.00am and 4-30am and searched in Juniper Close, Willow Drive and Rodmell Road.

At around the same time a garage was entered in Willow Drive where an untidy search was carried out.

Three men wearing dark hoodies were seen running from the area

Sergeant Stuart Mullins said: "We think that up to six vehicles were entered, though it seems in only two cases was anything stolen.

"It appears these vehicles were insecure and that the suspects had been trying door handles in the surrounding area."

Sgt. Mullins said the incidents underlined a message to always lock vehicles, no matter where they are left or even if just for a short time.

Valuables should not be left in vehicles, and property should be hidden from view.

Anyone seeing suspicious activity around unattended cars should phone police on 999 immediately.

Anyone with information about Thursday's crimes is asked to email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phone 101. Or  call the independent charity Crimestoppers free and anonymously on 0800 555 111.
