SANTA'S CTLA BUS STILL FLYING

December 19th, 2017.

CTLA Community Transport, the last remaining accessible transport charity covering the whole Lewes District, brought back Santa's Bus to the Havens this year after the Rotary sleigh rounds finished around 12 years ago.

Starting with just three nights in 2016, demand for the bus to go to Peacehaven and Telscombe, as well as Newhaven, Denton and South Heighton, has seen volunteers manning seven dates in the run-up to Christmas - with over nine hundred children and their families already delighted to see Santa and his friends who included Frosty and Rudolph!

Newhaven Mayor and Young Mayor, June Dyer and Sophie Lewis, helped with the charity collections and praised the services of the vital frontline service which provides transport for additional needs children, mobility impaired adults, groups and clubs.

Local pubs have welcomed the collectors at the end of each route with a welcome drink and snack. Event organiser Paula Woolven thanked the staff of The Ark (Newhaven), The Flying Fish (Denton), The Engineer (Newhaven) and the Jolly Boatman (Newhaven) for their hospitality.

The last three dates are: tomorrow, Tuesday the 19th of December (South Heighton), Thursday the 21st of December (Telscombe Cliffs) and Friday the 22nd of December (Peacehaven West). Full details and routes can be found at www.ctla.org.uk or on Facebook.
