ROYAL PORTRAITS PRESENTED TO THE DON MABEY ROOM

May 25 2015.

Special photographic portraits of HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh have been given on permanent loan to the Don Mabey Room at the new Seaford Golf Club by The Seahaven Branch of The Royal Society of St George.

The portraits were given to the branch a few years ago by branch member and D Day veteran Colonel Keith Barker. He is not able to attend the branch functions due to a disability caused by the wounds he received on the 6th of June 1944. He and the late Don Mabey, first President of he branch, as well as President of Seaford Golf Club, were friends, but it is also significant that during Don's final years he was awarded the MBE and this had been presented to him by the Queen at an investiture at Buckingham Palace.

Her Majesty is the Patron of The Royal Society of St George.
