DEPUTY LIEUTENANT TO RE-OPEN REFURBISHED SEAFORD THEATRE THIS WEEKEND

The Deputy Lieutenant of East Sussex, David Allam DL, will cut the ribbon at this weekend's variety show, 'Summer Nights', re-opening the refurbished auditorium at the Barn Theatre in Seaford.


The show features top songs from beloved musicals and musical films including 'Mamma Mia', 'The Greatest Showman', 'Grease', 'Hamilton', 'Annie' and many more.

Other guests at the VIP Gala Night, this Friday, the 7th of September, will include Juliet Smith JP DL and the Mayors of Newhaven, Seaford and Peacehaven, along with seat sponsors and patrons who helped to raise over £7,000 to complete the works.

One patron is film writer and director, Warren Dudley, who has recently worked with Alan Davies and Martine McCutcheon on football film. The Bromley Boys and directed Seaside Town, coming out soon on Amazon Prime.

"This is a celebration of not only the auditorium, but all the works undertaken at the Barn Theatre over the last five years," said show director, Paula Woolven. "We have had to fundraise tens of thousands of pounds to replace the heating system, kitchen, lights, accessible entrance, toilets and sound and lighting equipment, as well as the auditorium chairs, which were donated to us by the Dome Theatre in Brighton thirty years ago. They certainly served us well!"

Tickets are available for Saturday and Sunday's shows online or from the Seaford Tourist Information Centre, Church Street, during office hours.
