GET ON BOARD WITH THE RNLI IN NEWHAVEN

March 22nd, 2018.

The RNLI at Newhaven lifeboat station is calling for people from all walks of life to help crew the lifeboat and assist with launch and recovery when they go on service.

Paul Legendre, the Coxswain, is keen to stress that you don’t need to have any sea-going experience to get involved with the RNLI: "Only 10 percent of the RNLI’s new recruits come with professional maritime experience. Our lifeboat women and men come from all backgrounds.

"We are looking for anyone aged 17 to 60 years old who is living or working within 10 minutes of the lifeboat station. You need to be willing to volunteer some of your free time to join, which is what I believe to be one of the most exhilarating and rewarding voluntary services that is."

The RNLI provides training to turn ordinary people into lifesavers and by volunteering people will gain experience, knowledge and skills.
