NEW SUNDAY AND BANK HOLIDAY BUS SERVICE FOR NEWHAVEN

April 4th, 2018.

From Sunday the 22nd of April a new round-the-town Sunday and Bank Holiday 145 bus service will be operating in Newhaven, enabling local residents to get out to the shops, to visit friends or enjoy Newhaven’s green open spaces.

The new service will serve the Valley estate as well as Denton, South Heighton and the area of the town west of the river and south of the A259. It will be run by CTLA (Community Transport for the Lewes Area) in partnership with Newhaven Town Council and will run around the town at 90 minute intervals.

This will complement the existing Monday to Saturday 145 and 123 services run by Compass Bus, which will continue to run two-hourly. The extra 145 Saturday journeys which have been subsidised by the town council for the past two years will cease. The normal weekday fares will now apply on Saturdays and Sundays.

The Mayor of Newhaven, Councillor June Dyer, explained: “The new service will provide a wonderful new opportunity for local people of all ages to get out and about on Sundays and Bank Holidays using accessible community transport.

"Newhaven Town Council would like to thank both CTLA and Compass Bus for working with the town council to enhance bus services for our local community.”
