NEWHAVEN LIFEBOAT PRESENTED WITH DEFIBRILLATOR

May 15th, 2017.

The Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex and the Mayor of Newhaven have presented Newhaven Lifeboat station with a publicly accessible life-saving defibrillator.

The defibrillator was purchased from the Mayor’s Fund where £6,500 was raised for five publically accessible devices to be located at various locations across the town. Over the coming weeks, the defibrillator will be fixed to the front of the lifeboat station where it will be accessible for anyone who may require the device in an emergency situation.

Paul Legendre, Coxswain, said; “These devices have been proven to save lives and we are proud to have been chosen as one of the locations within the community. They are simple to use and don’t require any training, so can be used by anyone. The RNLI routinely saves lives at sea and now we can help continue that ethos on shore as well.”
