The A259 at Newhaven Swing Bridge will be closed to all traffic from 11.00pm tomorrow night, Tuesday the 6th of October, until 5.00am on Wednesday the 7th of October. The crossing will be reopening no later than 5.00am to allow commuters to catch the 5.16am train from Newhaven Town Station.

The overnight tests last month went well and the bridge is operating as it should, but the contractors need to remove the old gearbox from the bridge and the only way we can do this is by setting up a crane on the eastern approach. The street lighting contractor will also be making use of the closure to change some of the lanterns on the street lighting columns by the flyover.
