Newhaven Town Council hosted a visit to Newhaven by His Excellency Nguyen Hoang Long, the Vietnamese Ambassador to the United Kingdo), yesterday, together with a cultural exhibition and business networking event as part of the recently agreed Free Trade Agreement between the UK and Vietnamese governments.

The event was supported by members of the Newhaven Chamber of Commerce, whose President, Mike Shorer, together with the Mayor of Newhaven, Cllr. Lesley Boniface, gave interviews to Vietnamese State Television in support of the important trade opportunities between the town and Vietnam.

As part of the exhibition, the Ambassador and his team also presented samples of Vietnamese cuisine, which were widely enjoyed.

Mayor Cllr. Lesley Boniface stated; “Newhaven is ever mindful of the legacy link it has with Vietnam through its revered former President Ho Chi Minh, and I feel sure that this continued mutual respect will further strengthen and develop trade links well into the future.”
