LIB DEM POSTERS REMOVED

April 22 2015.

Local Lib Dems say that their election poster boards have been systematically removed from private gardens in what Norman Baker calls, “An attempt to pervert the course of the election”.

In Seaford virtually the entire A259 was stripped out overnight, as well as side streets being affected. In Newick, a large number have vanished, while Tory garden posters there have remained undisturbed. Garden posters have also been illegally removed in Lewes, Newhaven and Ditchling.

Now Norman has called in the police and asked them to investigate. At the start of the campaign, the police had written to all party agents reminding them that there should be no interference with the posters of other parties.

Norman is also calling on the public to keep a watchful eye and report any incidents they witness both to the police and to his office, including number plate details of any vehicle associated with the thefts.

Norman says: “While I am confident that Maria Caulfield and her team have played no part in this, it does look as if some of her rogue supporters may have. I would ask her to reiterate to her supporters that they should leave Lib Dem posters alone, just as I have made clear to Lib Dem supporters that they should not touch Tory posters, or indeed those of any other party.”
