The unveiling of Seaford’s Community Bench is to take place on the 1st of May at Splash Point, Seaford at 12.30pm.

Residents who have supported this project by donating a fish will be able to see their dedications on the first section of the installation.

The brainchild of Gabby Tofts, a gardener, and Christian Funnell, a renowned local sculptor, The Shoal has drawn enthusiastic attention since the outset. Gabby and Christian were selected by The Seaford Community Partnership, working in conjunction with East Sussex County Council, to bring this project to life. Examples of Christian’s work can be seen in Seaford’s Peace Garden and at Birling Gap. He endeavours to bring the visitor a sense of engagement with the unique qualities of a given place.

Visitors to the opening are invited from 12.30 in readiness for the arrival of the Lord Lieutenant of Sussex, who will be performing the opening ceremony with the Mayor Seaford at 13.00. The will live music from a variety of performers, and there will also be a seafood barbeque.
