JOIN NEWHAVEN LIFEBOAT CREW

May 8th, 2024.

Newhaven RNLI is looking for people to join the existing volunteer crew. If you are passionate about Saving Lives at Sea, willing to learn new skills and ready to put your life on hold when the pager goes off, this could be the volunteering opportunity for you.

Newhaven RNLI is looking for team players, who are physically fit, can follow directions when required to, and can get along with people easily. The crew members need to be over 18, and under 55 for Inshore Lifeboats, or 65 for All-Weather-Lifeboats.

Do you need maritime experience to apply? No! Only 1 in 10 lifeboat crew members have professional maritime experience. The RNLI’s world class training programme will provide you with all the skills you need to Save Lives at Sea.

Newhaven RNLI operates a Severn Class All-Weather-Lifeboat and is about to begin a two-year trial of a D Class Inshore Lifeboat. The crew launch to a wide range of shouts, from assisting trawlers, to rescuing stranded animals.

Lewis Arnold, ALB Coxswain Mechanic, explains: “Our volunteers are the backbone of our operations. With the D Class trial due to start, we are looking to recruit new volunteer crew members to join us at Newhaven RNLI. We are looking for dedicated, passionate, and committed people to join our lifesaving team.”

Roger Cohen MBE, Lifeboat Operations Manager, added: “We are looking forward to welcoming new volunteers to join us at Newhaven RNLI. Our charity couldn’t function without the hard work, dedication and time put in by our volunteers. We look forward to hearing from the community.”
