HI DE HI AT THE FORT

July 22nd, 2017.

Meeching Amateur Dramatics (MAD) would like you to take a nostalgic look back in time when, according to the then Prime Minister, Harold Macmillan, we were part of the 'never-had-it-so-good' fifties.

Maybe you were one of the baby boomers at that time or have heard about those special years when life was so different. Britain, having just come out of rationing and shortages, seemed so innocent and optimistic for the future, and where trust and neighbourly concern thrived. The era of package and exotic holidays had yet to arrive, so most people spent their week's summer holiday at a holiday camp or the seaside.

So in August 2017, for three evenings only, Thursday the 24th to Saturday the 26th, the Fort at Newhaven will come alive, as Maplins Holiday Camp and you will be transported back in time, to 1959, for MAD's production of 'Hi-De-Hi' by Paul Carpenter and Ian Gower, a stage play adapted from the original TV series, by Jimmy Perry and David Croft.

The doors will open at the Fort from 6.45pm for a 7.45pm start. It will be a night to remember, so go along and enjoy a summer evening with Gladys and all your favourite Yellowcoat characters from the TV series in the convivial surroundings of the Hawaiian Ballroom.

Tickets are £10.00 with £8.00 concessions from:
