HALLOWEEN FUN AT THE FORT

October 9 2014.

From Saturday 25th October until Sunday 2nd November, Newhaven Fort has lots to offer the whole family this half term.

Back by popular demand are Jaws ‘n’ Claws, with their animal handling workshops on Monday 27th October at 1.30pm and 2.45pm. And if you’re feeling creative then book a place on one of the children’s Halloween Craft Workshops taking place on Thursday 30th October at 11.15am, 1:15pm and 3:00pm. All of these activities are very popular so make sure you book your place in advance to avoid missing out!

On Friday 31st October there will be a children’s Halloween party, with lots of spooky games and activities to join in, as well as a disco playing some monster tunes! Prizes will also be given for the best fancy dress. The party will be held in the Romney Hut between 1.00 and 4.00pm and is open to anybody visiting the Fort on the day.

On the evening of 31st October the Fort, Wave Leisure and Meeching Amateur Dramatics have joined forces to bring you 'Another Walk on the Spooky Side'. Starting in the Fort's car park at 6.30pm Health Walk leaders from Wave Leisure will take you on a walk round Castle Hill - and who knows who you might find hiding along the way! The walk will last about an hour and will finish inside Newhaven Fort where you will be able to warm up with a nice hot drink and a hot dog. Tickets cost £6 each (including refreshments) and booking is essential. Tickets are available from Newhaven Fort (01273 517622), Meeching Amateur Dramatics (07912 965507) and Wave Leisure (01323 490011). Please note that this walk is not suitable for children under 7 years of age.

On Saturday 1st November the Fort is also proud to be hosting the Royal British Legion’s East Sussex Poppy Appeal launch. The event will be opened at 11.00am by the Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex and there will be stalls to browse and music throughout the day. The event will end with a charity auction, with all proceeds going to the Poppy Appeal.

And if that’s not enough, there are questions to answer and riddles to solve in the freaky family quiz trail, running daily. The spooky Searchlight Café will also be open throughout the week where you will find a range of wholesome snacks, homemade soups and Halloween cakes.
