FRIENDS OF TIDE MILLS APRIL MEETING AND CLEAR UP

April 16th, 2017.

Brian Skinner reports:

The Friends of Tide Mills completed their April meeting today in still, slightly chilly, but at least dry weather. 20 of us collected 8 bags of assorted litter and other various bits and pieces. The whole area is looking fantastic, with Spring well and truly upon us. Marvelous.

Our Ringed Plover nesting signs remain in place, and again we ask that disturbance of the marked area is kept to a minimum, to help these amazing little birds successfully breed again.

Very shortly we are attending a meeting with ESCC to discuss, and hopefully persuade, to not proceed with the planned Port Access Road, which, in our and many others opinion is not necessary and a complete waste of scarce public funds. This road will see heavy goods vehicles routed over a bridge and into Tide Mills itself - this much-loved peaceful open space that we have all come to value deeply.

Our next Friends meeting is Sunday the 21st of May, meeting between 10.00am and 12noon. We congregate at the waymarker at the beach end of the old Village Road.

More members are always welcome to our little band, no matter how much time can be spared.
