April 22 2014/

Community Transport for the Lewes Area (CTLA) has revealed that that two of its volunteers have been shortlisted for the Newhaven Community Awards and the winners will announced at a ceremony on the 29th of April, 2014.

Bob Evans works and volunteers for the CTLA, a registered charity in Newhaven and is described by his colleagues and service users as "always giving 100 percent". As an honorary Rotarian for Newhaven, Peacehaven and Telscombe, he has helped at dozens of events for charity over the last two decades. Bob is also a Group Scout Leader for the 3rd Newhaven troop, and has been a dedicated officer for the last fifteen years, recently receiving his ‘Wood Badge’.

Iris Donaldson has lived in Denton and Newhaven since 1963 and volunteers at least one day a week in administration for CTLA. She is always first to volunteer to help at fundraising events such as CTLA's recent 1940’s themed show which raised over two thousand pounds in aid of the accessible community transportation service. A past President of Newhaven, Peacehaven and Telscombe Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow, Iris has been volunteering for over 19 years whilst raising her family and, until recently, running the popular local pet store in Newhaven Town Centre.
