COUNCIL ADOPTS SEAFORD NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN

March 6th, 2019.

At an Extraordinary Full Council meeting held on the 28th of February, Seaford Town Council adopted the final draft of the Seaford Neighbourhood Plan.

The Council was presented with the final draft plan by local volunteers, following three years of development and consulting with residents and authorities. It details what infrastructure and development residents/authorities have suggested to sustain future housing growth in the Seaford area, taking into consideration the legal requirement to locate 185 new residences, local environment and sustainability, design, housing type, traffic and transport, economy, services and facilities.

The Plan will now be submitted to Lewes District Council for further public consultation and then finally to an independent examiner, who will check that the plan meets the right standards, before a local referendum where the residents of Seaford decide whether or not the plan should be adopted.

The Council thanked all the volunteers who contributed to the plan which received input or support from over 1,000 residents. Particular thanks were given to Chairman Keith Blackburn and expert volunteer adviser Charles Grimble.
