BLOOMSBURY ON SEA - THE BLOOMSBURY GROUP IN SUSSEX

December 5 2016.

Newhaven Historical Society is hosting another of its fascinating presentations at the Hillcrest Centre tomorrow, this time revealing the various antics of the Bloomsbury Group in Sussex.

The Bloomsbury group were an eclectic mixture of individuals at the very centre of art, literature, design and economics in the early years of the 20th Century. They were deeply inspired by Sussex and the two remaining Bloomsbury houses open to the public are close to the Haven area at Monks House in Rodmell and Charleston Farmhouse in Firle.

Chris Cook is a guide at both houses and in this illustrated talk he will discuss the group, their lifestyle and their legacy, including the decorated murals at Berwick Church.

The Hillcrest Centre is at Bay Vue Road, Newhaven, BN9 9EA

Arrive 7.00 for 7.30pm tomorrow, Tuesday the 6th of December.

Guests welcome: Admission £2.00
