BLACK FRIDAY AND CYBER MONDAY? REMEMBER GIVING TUESDAY!

November 28 2014.

Christmas shoppers are being urged to give something back on GivingTuesday after the media induced retail hype of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

A host of celebrities have thrown their support behind the ‘global day of giving’ that is snowballing in the UK with more than 600 charities, businesses and organisations signed up, including East Sussex Community Transport charity, CTLA.

Helen Mirren, Michael Palin, Downton actress Joanne Froggatt and supermodel Lily Cole are all backing the campaign on Tuesday the 2nd of December.

GivingTuesday simply asks people to mark the day by doing one thing for a good cause after the shopping days of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. That could range from volunteering, giving money or publicising and talking about your support for a cause close to your heart on social media.

The campaign is being run in the UK for the first time this year by the Charities Aid Foundation and online donation site LocalGiving is offering member charities the opportunity to TREBLE £10 donations made on #GivingTuesday.

1000 donations made on the 2nd of December will be picked at random to be trebled to £30 at no extra cost to the donor. The money has been donated by the Office for Civil Society to support local charities.

You can donate to CTLA at www.givingtuesday.org for a chance for your £10 donation to be trebled at : www.localgiving.com/commtrans - Only donations made on Tuesday the 2nd of December will be entered into the treble draw.
