ANY QUESTIONS IN SEAFORD

April 21 2015.

Seaford Residents’ Voice is the towns’ residents’ association. “We take people’s views and shout them from the rooftops. If there is an opinion on what’s happening in the town we try and ensure it’s noticed and acted on,” says chairman, Richard Wright.

On a different tack, seeing the one-way street of election leaflets with no opportunity to get a direct answer from any local MP candidates, S R V are offering a chance for searching questions to be put to the candidates live. It’ll take the form of an “Any Questions” type event with all five Lewes Constituency candidates in the firing line.

“The questions? Yours, please!” says Richard. “We want real people to put real concerns across, to ask real, searching questions. These are candidates for national government, so questions could be about the parties’ national policies, or about parties’ and candidates’ attitudes to local issues.”

He says they want to encourage genuine engagement between the electors and their prospective elected MP. “It’s about their attitudes, experience, involvement, and what they’d do as an MP as much as – well, basic honesty,” he continues. “All those things are important. Particularly the last.”

It’s happening at Seaford Baptist Church at 7.30 pm on Tuesday 5 May, just two days before polling.

All Seaford residents are welcome. “We really want a good selection of questions,” continues Richard. He says they are welcome by post to S R V, 27 West Street, Seaford or by email to info@SeafordResidentsVoice.co.uk , to arrive by Friday the 30th of April at the latest. A draw will take place and those successful notified over that weekend by phone or email.

“Everyone is welcome at the event.” Richard adds. “But we only have 300 seats, so they should arrive early!”
