ACCIDENT DRAWS RENEWED CALL FOR SAFE CROSSING ON BELGRAVE ROAD

December 16 2014.

Liberal Democrat Councillor Carolyn Lambert has renewed her call to have a safe crossing over Belgrave Road in Seaford. Councillor Lambert says: “I have been calling for a safe crossing over Belgrave Road for some 18 months now, supported by residents, Guide Dogs for the Blind and Think School Travel.

“Last Saturday, a lady was knocked down trying to cross this dangerous road where both the police and I receive constant complaints about speeding and a lack of visibility for pedestrians. The accident was witnessed by an elderly resident who was extremely shocked.

“The Conservative County Council has refused to fund a safe crossing in Belgrave Road, despite pleas from residents. Clearly they prefer to see people injured and taking their lives in their hands trying to cross the road.

“This accident is a wake-up call and it is now high time for the County Council to face up to its responsibilities.”
