ARMED FORCES DAY

July 9th, 2022.

Armed Forces Day was celebrated on Saturday the 25th of June at the Martello Fields in Seaford. The event was officially opened by the Mayor of Seaford, Councillor Oliva Honeyman.

Armed Forces Day is to recognise and thank the Armed Forces community - veterans, serving troops, reservists, cadets and their families. This year the event recognised the 40th Anniversary of the Falklands War and remembered all those impacted by the conflict. Badges commemorating the Falklands were handed out to all the veterans on parade and the cadets by the Young Mayor of Seaford, Erin Franklin.

The Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex,  Andrew Blackman, took the salute and inspection, and spoke about the importance of the Armed Forces, thanking the men and women past and present for their service. This was witnessed by local MP Maria Caulfield and neighbouring Mayors of Lewes, Peacehaven and Telscombe.
